Live in an island nation that boasts some of the most diverse and beautiful natural landscape in the world! From sandy, sub-tropical beaches to Alpine mountains, glacial lakes and fjords, one will never tire of the magnificent scenery and some of the friendliest people you will ever meet. If you are an outdoor enthusiast, you will feel especially at home in this amazing outdoor playground. New Zealand's rich agricultural industry is only a complement to its beautiful backdrop. Millions of sheep dot the rolling green hills of the countryside, while vineyards and kiwi fruit orchards nestle up to beautiful ocean beaches.
As part of The Commonwealth, New Zealand has a distinct British feel coupled with the fascinating and rich culture of the indigenous Maori and the large population of Pacific-Islanders. Kiwis are best known for their love of sport and boating. As avid rugby and cricket fans, Kiwis never miss a good game; especially when their esteemed national team, the All Blacks is playing their big rival, the Australian Wallabies. Almost 70% of the population in New Zealand owns a boat, as yachting and sailing is a national pastime. If you are a water enthusiast, you will not be disappointed!
Kiwis are known to be some of the friendliest people in the world. Whether your host family runs a sheep farm or commutes into one of the urban centers to work, they will welcome you into your new home with open arms. Kiwis will certainly incorporate you into their family activities and you may soon find yourself feeding animals on the family farm, assisting with the evening meal or helping in the garden. All of these activities are perfect opportunities to experience the "true" New Zealand culture.
